Leg Up

It is that time of year where the sun is out, but it is not exactly warm enough for shorts and a tshirt. That for workouts outside mean leggings. Which are hands down the best article of clothing ever invented. My next splurge item will be a marble legging set. No one needs it, but it looks amazing! Here are some of my other favorites. (Also this has been my favorite 15 minute hitt workout for when I need to do a workout but do not have the time.)

April Dresses

When are we not looking for a dress for any event? April always has a couple of things coming from Easter to family dinners to end of the year school events. These are some of my favorite dresses for those! You can dress these up by pairing a some wedges and a tailored blazer, or dress it down by pairing a jean jacket and sandals depending on what look you want to go for. Happy Spring!

Good Book Club: Modern Romance

So last month was Modern Lovers and this month is Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. I love Aziz Ansari. He was hands down one of the best characters in Parks and Rec. I have seen all of his stand up acts on Netflix, and his show is pretty darn good as well. I was at the airport this week and I realized that for my three week trip I did not have a book. No wifi and no book was not a good mix.

I normally buy my books used from Amazon. (I know I am that customer, but I am a sucker for a good deal.) I went to three airport book stores. (Read that three book stores in three different states). I found nothing. Which I am a person that can run into a grocery store and come out with a book.

I stumbled upon Modern Romance and I knew I had to pick it up. I thought the  book would be more of a memoir, (which it is and is not). It is more of his play by play of modern romance. Which I agree with some and disagree with others. Overall the book is as funny and great as Aziz Ansari.

March Favorites

March was a wild month. It started with a trip to Chicago, the middle a trip to Omaha, and ended with a trip to my California-cation. (Just kidding California is another work trip). At this point I do not even know why I own an apartment. Oh right, I need an address so I can online shop;)

Other than traveling left and right, I have been settling more and more into the Des Moines groove. It is hard to get a schedule down with the traveling, but I am doing the best I can staying busy. Which is always more fun. Here is everything that has gotten me through this month.

Highlighter Pens// These are the best. I love how it brings a pop of color but as thin as a pen. I have been organizing my planner with these lately.

Trader Joe's Pineapple Juice// My apartment is set at a solid 82 degrees at all times. Decond order effect is this dries my skin and throat out so bad. I got a humidifier which helped tons, but I still had a cough. I heard this juice coats your throat as well as cough syrup. So I have had this as a staple in my fridge lately.

Military Jacket// Spring and Fall mean lighter coats. I love this jacket because it covers your hips so it is good to wear with leggings. Also the pockets are huge so it basically doubles as a purse!

Loafers and Spring Shoes//  Unfortunately boot weather is coming to a close. (Can you still wear tights in spring?) With that being said it is not quite sandal weather yet. I am loving closed toed shoes for spring. (Plus loafers are basically slippers.

Work Dress and Blue Dress// I feel that without tights, hemlines for work have to be a little longer. I still love a good work dress. The shirt dress is basically like wearing your linen duvet around all day.

Stapler// Having cute office supplies makes staying organized that much easier. My desk aesthetic is turning into rose gold/pink.

Chicago Trip

I never knew that Chicago was the third largest city in the United States. I thought it was comparable to a Cleveland or a Grand Rapids. I was very mistaken. That city is huge. I think I am the last one to find this out. I was there for a week for a work trip and was pleasantly surprised.

This trip actually took place right after Colorado (which ended up working out perfect because tickets out of Chicago were incredibly cheaper). It was a long week for sure, but here are some of the highlights.

We went to Soho house Chicago, which I had been eyeing on Pinterest for a solid year. Needless to say it did not disappoint. The brunch pick looked the best. I however, got the pick two with the pizza and bean soup #Amazing.

Another big highlight from the trip was going to a couple of interior design/ housing company's luxury show rooms at the mart. So worth the trip if you ever get a chance. Then a couple of other things that were worth bumping into. (I think my favorite thing was driving along the coast of Lake Michigan.)

Winter to Spring

The weather is in that awkward state where it will snow at the beginning of the week, and by the end of the week it is in the 60s then by night it is in the 40s. That means you can't just dress for winter and dressing for spring is a little to eager. I love how you can make white jeans work for both. Dressing for both winter and spring can easily be done by pairing pieces from both. Here is how I do it for different occasions.

But First...

I am tired of the argument if coffee is good or bad for you. Sure, gluten is bad for some, decent for others. Coffee is a life line. Look at the Gilmore Girls, they drink it by the gallons and are okay.

Jokes aside, I am queen of losing coffee mugs. I need one all the time. They just disappear like socks. I am not exactly sure where they go, but here are some of my favorites I have been looking at.

Feb Fave's

February in Des Moines is apparently comparable to Florida. The weather got pretty perfect about half way though. It feels like I have been in Des Moines for forever, and yet it feels like every other day I do something new. I think I have been so busy, I just have not had any time to think about it. I have just been trying to take in Des Moines for all it is worth.

Other than Des Moines I took on the quest of skiing this month. It started out not being able to get enough speed, and once I got the speed I realized that I never learned how to actually stop. Needless to say, I had a couple of tumbles! Overall, it was a great workout and a relaxing evening!

From there I headed to Chicago for work. It was a busy week and it was great to take in a sneak peak of the city. I was unable to spend too much time there, but I am excited for a trip in the near future. Overall it was a crazy fun month, and this is everything that go me through the month.

Tassel Necklace// This has been my favorite go to necklace for every shift dress. This is seriously a go to necklace for anything simplistic that needs an added sparkle.

Aviators//  These have been my go to for years, and blue has been my favorite for forever. I have nothing to say other than this is a my favorite classic glasses.

CoverGirl Foundation// I have gone though hundreds of drugstore foundations. This CoverGirl foundation was so over hyped, and I am so late to the bandwagon. This is hands down the best one I have ever used yet. It is just as good as the Clinique matte finish foundation.

Bronzer// Pink is a horrible color on me. It kind of makes me look like I am having an allergic reaction. Finding a blush can be close to impossible, I found that using a bronzer to do the same thing can have a just as good effect.

Loafers// These are so great to slip on for work. I find them to be more comfortable than flats, not as great as boots. They do look great with all pants.

Matte Eyeshadow// I do not know why sparkle eyeshadow became popular. I am a sucker for an eyeshadow palette, which means 90% of your colors have some sort of a sparkle. This palette is great because you can get all of the color choices without looking like you raided limited too.

Work Skirt// Having a wide array of work clothes makes getting ready in the morning so much easier. Work skirt are like not wearing pants, and more casual than dresses. It is a perfect match.

Chi Tassel Spray// I am not a big hair product person however, this has been life changing. I loved how easy it is to style your hair without all the stick!

Red Dress  Boutique// I want every single outfit from this store. They have great prices, and cute looks!
