Best Holiday Beauty Buys

Hands down the biggest sucker for a good make-up palette. I want to thank Urban Decay for making the recent popularity with their best selling naked palettes. For the record, these holiday beauty kits, from what I remember, used to we way better. I feel like there used to be way more that came with the palettes. None the less, The holiday kits are so fun to look at. I ended up getting the Urban Decay On the Run kit. Here are some of my other favorites.

Off and Running

My favorite part about running is, without a doubt, being able to zone out for a moment and listening to a good playlist. Here are some of my favorites to get in the running mood:

Giving Thanks

I only got two days off this year for thanksgiving. Those two days were much needed though. My Break was extremely relaxing, and spend hanging out with my family in Detroit. With thanksgiving here and gone that means that the holiday season is in full swing.

I find it useful to have thank you cards always on hand. If I do not I will hands down forget to send one. I am a huge fan of going through stationary stores. I am one of those weird people that still send letters and notes to friends. It is kind of a selfish reason, but honestly I just like buying stationary sets and writing letters!  Here are some of my favorite picks for thank you cards:

August 2015 Favorites

Every month seams soo long lately. Needless to say, August was an amazing month. I spent half of it in Kentucky, and honestly when I got back to Michigan it was the best feeling ever. Just being about to grab a cup of coffee whenever I wanted was heaven. I am happy to be back and start the school year.

Check out my favorites for the month:

Face Makeup// After two months of not wearing any make up, my makeup routine became way more simplistic. I used to wear a heavy liquid foundation, but my skin started getting used to not having the makeup covering it. Now I just cover up spots with the BB cream and dust powder on my face.

Essie "Marshmallow"// I actually wore this color all summer long. White went with everything (naturally) and it even made the palest of people look a little tan.

Chambray Pocket Shirt// It could not have even been August 2015 without this chambray shirt. I may be a little dramatic, however i did wear this shirt everywhere. It was definitely a staple of my summer uniform.

Mini Bag// Usually my bags are either clutch or tote sized. I never gravitate towards a middle sized bag, until now. Just carrying around a bag that is a little bit bigger for errands has been a life saver. Being about to throw everything you need into a bag without having to carry the weight of everything you stuff into a tote.

Planner// With School starting a planner was a must. I was going to break down and become a grown up this year and get the Kate Spade planner. However I thought this was my last year of college, and it was probably the only time in my life I could get a Lilly Planner again.

Tassel Bracelet// This bracelet is a little out there, but I loved pairing this with just a watch, and a more casual outfit. It was too much if it was worn with a fancier outfit.

Wine Glasses// So apparently it is a law that if 4 ladies live in an apartment you legally have to have wine glasses. This month I invested in wine glasses and I am obsessed with these.

Back to Kool

I have no clue how it ended up being Senior year already. It feels like just yesterday I was a little freshman scurrying around campus. Not going to lie, by the time senior year has rolled around. I pretty much have the school supplies haul down to a science. Here is what I will be bringing back to school:

Highways and Byways

I am a liar. I said I was not going to travel anywhere this summer, but I actually traveled a lot. I did not go on any extravagant trips, none the less there was lots of traveling. The trips were mostly weekend getaways, but they were still a great time. Here is what I wore to a weekend in the city.

I tried to keep most of the clothes so that they were easy to get around in. Most everything was a laid back dressed up. The dress, Keds, and watch was an easy outfit for walking around downtown. While the shorts, button down, and Statement Necklace was functional enough for some heavy duty walking. The Jack Rogers could go with that and the romper. The Romper and Kendra Scott earnings, you were still able to get around in, but a little fancier for going out. Lastly, how could you forget the PJs to sleep in every night. The Purse and water bottle, you could take everywhere with you. and you could throw everything else in the weekender and cosmetic bag.

Party Pants

I have fallen in love... with these pants. I never in a million billion years would have ever gravitated towards these slouchy pants. I needed pants to wear to work because I was going to be moving things around. Long story short everything was in the wash, so I borrowed a pair of these pants from my sister, and oh my goodness. They are perfect. I would compare them to the leggings of work wear. They are so comfy, yet look great. Here are different ways you can wear them:

Rousing Rompers

I never thought I would get on the romper train, but they are everywhere. The other day when I was browsing the store I found a romper for dirt cheap, so I thought I would give it a go. I have to say I am a fan. I thought rompers would make me look short and cut off (I need all the height I can get), however that was not the case. Rompers have my stamp of approval.

Toast!

My sister and I are big on going on sister dates at least once a month. I do not know how long we have been talking about going to toast. I think it has been for the past year, but life comes up and one of us was never able to go. So when I got home from Kentucky, I dragged her along and trust me, no one regretted it.
Everything about this restaurant was perfect! The design was so cute, and the lighting was a great mixture of light and dark.
I have never been to a restaurant with so many original choices. My sister and I both ordered banana split coffees, which were to die for.
Not to mention the breakfast was out of this world. I ordered the tiramisu french toast, and my sister ordered the bacon Gouda omelet, which we split. (next time I go I want to try the s'mores pancakes.)
Over all, it was definitely worth the year wait for an amazing  brunch.

Home Sweet Apartment

I do not think it is a secret that I am horrible at interior design. My room looks like a guy with duck tape came in and tried to spruce the place up. My apartment this year was bad. I have picked up a couple of tips along the way to help make a room look pulled together.

Home decor blue

  1. |Picture frames are key| I thought washi tape would make my room look more casual. I was wrong. The frames look so much better than what my electrical looking tape could do
2. |Clusters of art look great| I had pictures all over my walls, which kind of just made my walls looked cluttered.
3. |Invest in curtains| Curtains can make any room look less like a college apartment.
4. |Pick a color Scheme| This is a hard one because I like everything  but if everything matches it would look a lot better.

Airport Fashion

Ahhh the time has come! I am packing up and getting ready to go as we speak!  I personally love to travel and do not mind plane rides what so ever. I love buying my magazine for the trip, purchasing a latte, sitting back and relaxing before the flight. Packing on the other hand is another story. Here is what I will be wearing to the airport. I put in a cardigan in because the airport is always freezing.

What's in My Bag: Intern Addition

My commute is pretty hectic. Work is the one place that I can not go back home every couple of hours, so I need to bring everything for the day. My bag can get a little heavy. Also my commute can be anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. I try to be prepared for everything. I love this tote bag because it holds everything!

Fitness Friday: Tone Everything Workout

I hope everyone had a great week! Here is a little workout inspiration for the weekend. For the weighted walking lunges I like to hold two 10lbs weights in my hands. I also like to do 4 sets of all the of the circuits. You can modify anything to fit your needs. Good luck!

Sweet Scallops

This summer I am loving  scallops. Everything can automatically be cuter if you throw a scallop pattern on any clothing. I am honestly surprised by how long scallops have stuck around. I am personally happy that it has, but still surprised. Here is what I will be stocking up on this summer.

Fitness Friday: Cross-Fit Work Out

I have this bad habit of falling in love with a workout and doing the same three workouts over and over. For my workouts I always do my run and then do some circuits or vice versa. I recently ran across an idea to run, do your circuits, and then do another run. It is an interesting approach and I ended up really liking the workout.

For this workout I personally like to do the run on a treadmill and run the mile at a tempo pace. And for the circuits you can break it up however you like.

Detroit Highlight: Willys Detroit

This Boutique is not even trendy, it is just straight up chic. Willys Detroit is located in Midtown right next to Jolly Pumpkin I might add and Shinola. This store has a lot of the basic essentials, with a twist. The store serves both men and women's clothing. I would describe the style as being more preppy/ nomcore.

There has also been rumors that Mary-Kate and Ashley have stopped by this boutique when they are in town. Check it out for yourself.
